Privacy, in plain words
Homeabouts is a BYU Law student project testing an idea. It is not an official BYU, city or state service. Here is exactly what this page does with your information.
What the sign-up collects
Your email address. Optionally, your ZIP code, who pays the city utility bill where you live, whether you have followed a city council meeting in the last year, and anything you type in the "one thing you'd want it to tell you" box.
The page also records where a visit came from (an ad, a printed card, or typed in directly), so the project can tell which way of reaching people works. It does not record your IP address or details about your phone or computer.
Why
To learn whether people in Utah want something like Homeabouts, and to send you one email if it launches. That is the only email you will get.
Who sees it
Only the BYU Law student running Homeabouts, plus the software tools used to run this page, which include AI tools. Your information is never sold, rented or shared with anyone else, including any city.
Where it is stored
In a database hosted by Cloudflare, a US company that also serves this page. There are no advertising trackers on this page.
How long
Sign-ups are deleted within 12 months, or sooner if the idea is not taken forward. Backups can take up to 7 days to clear after a deletion. Please do not put personal details in the free-text box.
Your choices
To be removed at any time, email hello@homeabouts.com from the address you signed up with, and it will be deleted within a week.
